Golden Triangle and Rajasthan Essentials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Days 1-2 The Claridges, Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On arrival, after clearing customs, you will be met by a representative who will escort you to your hotel, The Claridges, where you have two nights. The following day enjoy a full day sightseeing in Old & New Delhi. Morning sightseeing of Old Delhi includes Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort and Raj Ghat. Afternoon sightseeing of New Delhi includes Qutab Minar, Humayun\u2019s Tomb, India Gate and a drive past various Government buildings including Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhawan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3 The Trident Hotel, Agra<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out. You will be transferred to the Trident Agra, in Agra. The drive is around 4-5 hours. Agra was the capital of the Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi\u2019s empire from 1501. It passed to the Mughal\u2019s soon after and in 1526 Emperor Babar transformed Agra, giving it a unique character and beauty. A great patron of the arts, he made changes to the culture and life-style of his people, which in turn brought forth some of the finest craftsmen, artists, statesmen, warriors and nobility ever seen in this part of India. Over the next few centuries Agra witnessed a rise in pomp and pageantry under the rule of three great Mughal monarchs: Emperors Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jahan. All lavished their love and riches on this fabled city, making it one of the great centres of art, culture, learning and commerce. Your tour of Agra includes the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Itimad-Ud-Daulah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 4-5 Heritage Haveli, Jaipur<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out and drive to Jaipur, staying at the Heritage Haveli for 2 nights. On the way break your journey to visit Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan and owes its name, planning and foundation to the Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727 he decided to move from his hillside fortress at Amber to the plains, and thus Jaipur was conceived. It is also known as the ‘Pink City’, derived from the pink painted sandstone from which the buildings in the old walled city are constructed. The city is endowed with great architectural elegance and beauty, with magnificent historic palaces, temples, gardens, museums and an amazing observatory built by Jai Singh. You have a full day of sightseeing in Jaipur including a morning visit to the Amber Fort, a Rajput Fortress\/Palace constructed from 1592. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A jeep will take you up the steep ramp. In the afternoon, explore Jaipur, from the bazaars to the Maharaja’s City Palace. Part of it is now a fine museum with a comprehensive display of historic artefacts. A relatively small portion of the palace is still used by the Royal family of Jaipur. Built in the style of a fortified campus, one of the palaces is the Hawa Mahal, known as the Palace of the Winds. Built in 1799 this five-story building looks out over the main street, and was originally for the ladies of the royal household to be able to watch life outside the cloistered Royal Residence. Nearby is the Jantar Mantar, which has the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world. Built by Jai Singh in 1728, it is still equipped with its original ancient instruments including a very accurate 90-foot sundial. Many of them are still in working condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 6 Khimsar Fort<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out & drive to Khimsar. Perched on the edge of the Great Thar Desert, in the heart of rural Rajasthan, is the remote 16th century Khimsar Fort, its battle-scarred walls & turrets are a reminder of a glorious and turbulent past. The construction of this magnificent fort began in 1523 by Rao Karamsji, the 5th son of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. An excellent stopover for a night or two of relaxation between Jodhpur and Bikaner. Peacocks, parrots, pigeons and many varieties of birds greet you, adding to the charm and splendour of this ancient fort. Arrive Khimsar – you’ll be staying in the fort tonight so check in and explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 7-8 Suryagarh, Jaisalmer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out and drive to Jaisalmer. Check in at the hotel, the Suryagarh, and spend remainder of the day at leisure. Founded in 1156, Jaisalmer could be straight out of the Arabian Nights. It is one of India’s most exotic and unusual towns, and probably the most perfect Rajput walled city of all. Deep in the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer retains a medieval appearance. Within its confines are many havelis and palaces, and a group of notable Jain Temples. The following day, get to grips with the city. Visit Jaisalmer Fort, also known as the ‘Golden’ Fort on Trikuta Hill, with commanding views across the desert landscape. Also visit Patwon ki Haveli. In the evening, transport yourself back in time and enjoy a camel ride at the sand dunes of Sam, where sunset vistas are spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 9 House of Rohet, Jodhpur<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out and drive to Jodhpur. Rao Jodha, the chief of the Rajput clan called the Rathores, founded the Bustling desert city of Jodhpur in 1459. It became the centre of the Rathore Kingdom known as Marwar, and lies in the heart of Rajasthan and on the edge of the Thar Desert. The massive fort dominates the city, topping a rocky hill that rises in its centre. The old city is surrounded by a 10 Km wall, from which eight gates give entry and exit. Check in at the House Of Rohet. Later visit Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 10 Kumbhalgarh Fort<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast check out & drive to Khumbhalgarh, stopping to visiting Ranakpur Jain Temples. The Jain Temple complex at Ranakpur is one of India\u2019s hidden gems. Built in the 15th century the temples are situated in the lovely Aravali valley, and the town is named after Rana Khumba a legendary warrior king of Udaipur. Kumbhalgarh is a place to slow down. The Fateh Safari Suite hotel offers great views of the valleys and villages around. Relax or visit the fort. In the evening, enjoy a sound and light show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 11-12 Trident Udaipur<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out & drive to Udaipur – the ‘City of Dreams’ also known as the Venice of the East. Check in to the Trident Udaipur. Interspersed with shimmering lakes, marble palaces and fountains, it is often referred to as the most romantic city in India. It was built in traditional Rajput style in 1559 A.D. by Maharana Udai Singh and was originally the capital of the State of Mewar. It’s beautiful lake setting, graceful architecture, bustling bazaars and historical past make Udaipur rather special. In the evening enjoy a boat ride at Lake Pichola to Jag Mandir. The following day you have a full day to enjoy Udiapur with a tour of the City Palace & Museum, Jagdish Temple and the Sahelion ki Bari (Garden of the maids of honour).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 13-14 Taj Mahal Palace and Towers Hotel, Mumbai<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, check out. You’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mumbai. You have your final 2 nights on holiday at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel. The next day enjoy a morning visit to the Gateway of India and Elephanta Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 15 Journey Home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
