It\u2019s not just about seeing the Falls themselves: there are wonderful riverside lodges perfect for relaxation, and the town itself offers a lively base for activities such as boat trips on the Zambezi, rafting, ziplining and guided walks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It combines easily with a safari in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Botswana<\/strong> \u2013 Chobe National Park is just over an hour\u2019s drive away.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zambia<\/strong> \u2013 onward travel to South Luangwa or the Lower Zambezi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zimbabwe<\/strong> \u2013 safari extensions to Hwange or Mana Pools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>South Africa<\/strong> \u2013 direct flights to Johannesburg (and Cape Town).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Good to know:<\/strong> If you\u2019d like to experience both sides of the Falls, the <strong>KAZA UniVisa<\/strong> (currently $50 USD) allows entry into both <strong>Zimbabwe and Zambia<\/strong> with a single visa, valid for 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"visiting-the-falls\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visiting the Falls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can view the Falls from both countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zimbabwe<\/strong> offers the most comprehensive panorama via the Victoria Falls Rainforest Walk (16 viewpoints). Entry fee: $50 USD for international visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zambia<\/strong> provides unique perspectives including the Knife-Edge Bridge and seasonal access to Devil\u2019s Pool on Livingstone Island. Entry fee: $20 USD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Rainforest Walk, allow around 2 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Morning<\/strong> \u2013 best for dramatic spray and mist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Afternoon<\/strong> \u2013 best for rainbows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilities<\/strong> \u2013 caf\u00e9s and washrooms at entry points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sunset<\/strong> \u2013 try the Lookout Caf\u00e9 (Zimbabwe) or riverside spots along the Zambezi (Zambia).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"key-viewpoints-on-the-zimbabwe-side\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Viewpoints on the Zimbabwe Side<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Viewpoints 1\u20135:<\/strong> Devil\u2019s Cataract and Cataract Island.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoints 6\u20139:<\/strong> Main Falls \u2013 the most dramatic section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoint 10:<\/strong> View of Devil\u2019s Pool (swimmable in the dry season).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoints 11\u201313:<\/strong> Horseshoe Falls \u2013 expect to get drenched in April.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoint 14:<\/strong> Rainbow Falls, the deepest at 108m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoint 15:<\/strong> Danger Point, a dry-season highlight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewpoint 16:<\/strong> Victoria Falls Bridge (built in 1905), popular with bungee jumpers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"best-time-to-visit-victoria-falls\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best Time to Visit Victoria Falls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Full Flood (March\u2013April):<\/strong> Most powerful flow, though heavy spray can obscure views of the gorge. Perfect for a couple of nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Batonka Guest Lodge<\/strong> \u2013 good value boutique charm with eco-credentials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ilala Lodge<\/strong> \u2013 comfortable, central, with views of the spray (and an elephant in the garden when I visited). This is one of the closest properties to the Falls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Victoria Falls Hotel<\/strong> \u2013 the \u201cgrand old lady\u201d of the Falls, steeped in history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Matetsi Victoria Falls<\/strong> \u2013 a luxury retreat on a private stretch of the Zambezi, with more of a safari feel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>528 Victoria Falls<\/strong> \u2013 stylish boutique property with personal service and a rooftop bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Palm River Hotel<\/strong> \u2013 elegant riverside property; elephants were on the lawn eating marula fruit when I stayed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mpala Jena Camp<\/strong> \u2013 an exclusive safari-style camp within Zambezi National Park.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"zambia-river-lodges-relaxed-vibes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zambia \u2013 River Lodges &amp; Relaxed Vibes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Staying on the <strong>Livingstone side<\/strong> feels more laid-back and as a result many guests tend to linger longer.  Many lodges are spread out along the Upper Zambezi. Perfect if you want to combine the Falls with a peaceful riverside stay. All the properties offer visits to the Falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Waterberry Zambezi Lodge<\/strong> \u2013 homely, friendly, and ideal for families. One of our favourites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tongabezi Lodge<\/strong> \u2013 romantic and unique, with hand-crafted chalets on the river.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thorntree River Lodge<\/strong> \u2013 contemporary luxury with a conservation focus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tintswalo at Siankaba<\/strong> \u2013 secluded island luxury between Livingstone and Chobe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"practical-travel-tips\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical Travel Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignfull has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You will get wet!<\/strong> At full flood, expect a drenching at viewpoints 10\u201315 (Zimbabwe). Hire a raincoat at the entrance for a couple of dollars.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What to wear:<\/strong> Shorts, T-shirt, and shoes you don\u2019t mind getting wet.
