Azura Benguerra Island
Azura Benguerra is a luxurious beach lodge situated on the unspoilt island of Benguerra in southern Mozambique. Lying within a National Park surrounded by deserted beaches of pure white sand and sparkling turquoise seas, this eco-friendly resort in Mozambique was hand-built by the local community and is operated in partnership with it.
Just 20 hand-built villas are nestled along one of the last undiscovered stretches of beach in the world and blend modern chic with all that is traditional in Mozambique. Each villa is just footsteps from the beach and set amidst indigenous gardens, offering a personal infinity swimming pool and spectacular beach-side view, and Mozambican butler-hosts to look after your every need.
Azura Benguerra Island's public areas are right on the beach and open to the sea. Several different zones have been created for guest’s enjoyment and relaxation, from the comfortable lounge area, to the vibey Star Bar, and fabulous wine cellar offering a selection of the owner’s wines, especially flown in from their Chateau in France. The Jellyfish Restaurant offers breakfast and more formal dining. There is a media room for those needing TV and internet access, a boutique at reception, an African spa to relax in, and Padi 5 Star dive centre with top of the range Scubapro equipment.
There are many activities to enjoy both in land and out at sea with a few included in your stay such as a sunset dhow cruise and a Land Rover island drive (subject to change/availability). Kayaks and paddle boards are available for all guests as well as snorkelling equipment but all guided excursions and day trips are payable direct. Guests can snorkel, dive or fish the waters which are abundant with marine life. There are many magnificent reefs which provide a home to the turtles that nest on the island's outer shores. Watch the sunset whilst sailing on a traditional dhow, or cruise to deserted beaches.
