This elegant elevated thatch and timber camp is situated on the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp sits amidst mopane forests, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats, making the variety of wildlife here truly exceptional.
Please note: the camp closes for 1 month during the green season for annual maintenance usually between January and March. Access to the camp is by air using the Xakanaxa airstrip. The airstrip is a 25 minute flight from Maun, the camp is a 25 minute game drive from the airstrip.
There are 12 East African style custom safari tents with en-suite facilities - one of these tents is configured for families with two bedrooms. Each tent which sits in the shade of giant ebony trees, is furnished with handmade teak furniture, designer linen and colourful woven rugs. A private terrace ensures wonderful lagoon views. The main lodge consists of an elevated main lounge, cocktail bar, library and dining area. There is a wonderful viewing platform looking out over the lagoon, and a thatched boma for breakfast and afternoon tea. There is also a secluded swimming pool and sundeck.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 Landcruisers with the chance to see lots of big game including lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog. Guests can also explore the lagoon and its many channels by boat - this activity is especially good for bird watching. As a general guide, the day usually starts with a 0530 wake up call and light breakfast in the boma. Brunch is served on return from the morning safari, at around 1130. Afternoon tea is served at 1500 prior to the afternoon activity. Guests usually return at around 1830, ready for dinner which is served at 1930.
