Offbeat Mara Camp
Offbeat Mara
Offbeat Mara is a small, traditional safari camp, situated within the 74,000 acre Mara North Conservancy. This conservancy along with Olare Motorogi, is one of our favourite safari areas with a fantastic density of wildlife.
The benefits of being in a private conservancy are numerous – there are only a dozen partner camps in Mara North so the number of guests at any one time is strictly monitored and ensures you do not see the same levels of traffic as in the national reserve – even at peak times.
In addition there are many activities available to you including off-roading, sundowners on the plains and bush dining which are not possible in the national reserve. There is a strict etiquette within the reserve ensuring a limited number of vehicles are permitted at sightings.
The camp itself is tucked away in a quiet corner of the Mara North Conservancy, offering an exclusive experience. The camp has just seven ensuite guest tents and is very atmospheric – perfect for those looking for that stripped back old-school safari experience.
Masai Mara, Kenya
The Masai Mara is the most famous of the Kenyan Game Parks, covering an area of some 1,500 square kilometres. Situated in the south-west of the country, it joins with the Serengeti to its south, across the border in Tanzania, to form a huge reserve for the animals within. It gets its name from the tribe who own the land, and still herd cattle here, the Maasai, and the river that runs through the park, the Mara.Click here to change this text
This area is known for its traditional ranches and rolling farmland. The landscape is different to elsewhere in Kenya and although wildlife might not be as prolific as in the Mara, Laikipia is a wonderful and very interesting place to include on a safari circuit of Kenya.
