After month of applications, security checks, emails and phone calls, Sara managed to get Explorers Against Extinction selected as one of only 15 organisations worldwide allowed to display in the Blue zone of COP26. There were over 7,000 applications.
We were up in Glasgow last week setting up one of the two pitches we were allocated, opposite the main conference room where so many vital decisions will be taken. The second pitch is in the VIP Lounge and for security reasons we were not allowed there, the work being done by contractors.
We submitted all artworks in our Invitational Collection, as well as shortlisted works from the Sketch For Survival Competition. The selection of artworks was done by the conference organisers (who changed their minds a lot..) In total we have 21 artworks + 4 photographs on display + info boards on all pieces and about Explorers and the Sketch For Survival initiative. As a unique concession we were allowed to put QR codes from the works through to our auction website.
As a happy consequence of all her work, Sara now has more emails to cabinet office members than Boris..
As delegates, Sara and I will be returning a couple of times over the next fortnight to attend relevant events and functions. Its a huge honour to be representing all our projects, artists and supporters at such a vital event and we will do our best to convey our message forcefully.
