If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring India’s national parks with someone who knows them like the back of his hand, look no further than Dharmendra—better known as DK.

With a career in the travel industry spanning over three decades, DK, ‘the man in the hat’ is a respected figure in Indian tourism and a passionate advocate for conservation. But it was in 2006 that his journey took a new direction. Picking up a camera for the first time, DK discovered a love for wildlife photography.

Through the lens, DK developed a profound connection with the natural world. His encounters with India’s incredible biodiversity, from Bengal tigers in the sal forests of Madhya Pradesh to rare birds in the wetlands of Bharatpur, deepened his belief in the importance of protecting these fragile ecosystems. This personal transformation led him to champion responsible and sustainable tourism, where travel leaves a light footprint and contributes positively to conservation efforts.

Today, DK is known not only for his guiding expertise, but also for his hands-on approach. He regularly leads small-group wildlife tours across India, sharing his deep knowledge of the country’s rich culture and unique species. His tours go far beyond wildlife watching—they’re immersive journeys that celebrate India’s traditions, landscapes, and people.

A key part of DK’s mission is working with indigenous communities, particularly those living near protected areas. He believes strongly in the power of community-based tourism to uplift local livelihoods and foster meaningful cultural exchange. For DK, it’s not just about seeing India—it’s about understanding it.

Things that might surprise you about DK? He’s not a fan of chilli—so keep those fiery curries away! Despite living in Delhi, he claims to know London better, and remarkably, he only travelled on the Delhi Metro for the first time in April 2025—on a trip with us!
