Invitational Artists: Supporting Sketch For Survival in 2023

We’ve had amazing support from our Invitational Artists over the last 5-6 years but it just gets a bit embarrassing asking every year for an artwork that takes so much of your time and skill. It seemed time to give you all a break!

Our Extinction Collection in 2023 is designed to be a unique take on the issue of climate change and how it impacts all of us. We hope to attract exposure and publicity through it to highlight our work. Sometimes you just need to adapt things so the media notice you again. The Invitational Collection will be back, in either 2024 or 2025, and guess what, we’ll be in touch…

That, of course, doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t love your support in some way this year. Our work continues to grow with more and more organisations contacting us about specific projects and potential partnerships.

Our strapline is ‘Partnerships to Protect the Wild’. We’d love our partnership with you to continue. It is only by working together that we have  been able to achieve all that we have over the last few years. Here are three ways you can support the campaign with your art in 2023, if you would like to:

Enter Sketch For Survival

Our International Art competition is open to everyone. The 100 Finalists will be exhibited in London & Edinburgh with The Extinction Collection. It’s online entry initially (so people will only know you’ve entered if you make it through to Stage 2).

Last year we had several Invitational artists opt to enter via our competition (with the added benefit of being eligible for the main awards).

A 26-minute Sketch

We’re going back to our roots! In our early days, we would request a 26 minute sketch (to highlight the shocking statistic that the African elephant is lost to poaching every 26 minutes on average). We would be very grateful if you would like to donate a sketch – these will be displayed until sold at our pop-up gallery store at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh and gallery@OXO London.

We will run a digital display at our exhibitions with a ‘Supporters’ Gallery’ so that all work supporting the campaign is recognised (listing will include an image of the artwork with the artist’s name, URL and donation made).

Please send your sketch to Explorers Against Extinction, Lower Farm Barns, Happisburgh, Norwich, NR12 0QQ, UK

We will need your name, the artwork’s name and your suggested retail price. We’ll do the rest.

Sell a Work

Several artists last year chose to sell a piece of work and donate the proceeds or a percentage to EAE, for which we are very grateful.

We will run a digital display at our exhibitions with a ‘Supporters Gallery’ so that all work supporting the campaign is recognised (listing will include an image of the artwork with the artist’s name, URL and donation made).

Every one who supports us through art will receive a Supporter’s Badge to use on their website and have their 26-minute sketch (or sold artwork) featured on our website. They will also be invited to the private view event (s).
