Last year’s winner in the Leisure Painter’s Sketch for Survival People’s Choice Award was Sue Sidley. As well as receiving her award at the Royal Geographical Society, Sue was featured in Leisure Painter. You can see the article in full below. We had the pleasure of meeting Sue during last year’s touring exhibition, at London Olympia.
More recently when we caught up with Sue, she said: “I loved being part of the project as it made me feel great to know that my donation was raising funds for such a worthy cause. It also pushed me to pick a paintbrush up after 20 years and has kickstarted a new career in fine art which is something I have always dreamed of but never had the confidence to do.
“I have since made lots of virtual artist friends on Instagram and Facebook who inspire me to keep going! I have also been running free live art classes on Zoom during lockdown which I would never have had the confidence to do before being involved with Sketch for Survival.”
We are delighted to see Sue’s entry to this year’s Sketch for Survival has already had some bids…click here to see Sue’s 2020 artwork.
Thank you Sue, and to all our contributing artists – ALL the profit raised from the art and photography in the auction catalogue supports our nominated projects.
