Filmed one warm April afternoon in Pench Tiger Reserve, this sighting captured Tigress Lakshmi, one of the park’s most recognisable and admired big cats.

Lakshmi is raising three cubs, though rangers reported that one had recently fallen ill. At the time of our visit, a vet accompanied by forest officials was en route to check on the cub’s condition.

We encountered Lakshmi as she crossed the track ahead of us, calling out as she disappeared into the forest, returning, it seemed, to check on her young.
