Sketch for Survival 100

We are delighted to announce the finalists for this year’s Sketch for Survival competition.

Huge thanks to our selection panel—Gary Hodges, Sophie Green, Sevina Yates, Alison Nicholls, and Mark Adlington. With such a diverse range of styles, including pastel, pencil, oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, digital pencil, charcoal, scratchboard, papercut, and pen, the selection process was incredibly challenging. All the longlisted pieces had merits.  Narrowing the longlist down to the final 100 involved lots of discussion, and some tough decisions. Congratulations to all the finalists and runners-up. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Which is your favourite artwork in this year’s Sketch for Survival collection? Cast your vote in the The Leisure Painter People’s Choice Award before Saturday, 19 October.

SFS 100 FINALISTS

Many congratulations to the 100 finalists.

These artworks will be exhibited in Edinburgh and London this autumn and be sold via our online auction in aid of our Project Fund, concluding 17 November. You can vote for your favourite artwork in the Leisure Painters’ People’s Choice Award here (closes 19 October)>>>

The shortlist, which is eligible for this year’s Sketch for Survival 100 Artist of the Year Award, decided by our selection panel, will be announced when our  exhibition opens in Edinburgh on 17 October.

All the artworks in the collection feature threatened species or at-risk wild spaces. Snow was a strong theme in this year’s competition with more snow leopards and polar bears entered than ever before. Four snow leopards and four polar bears made the final. Wild dogs were also popular this year, with some fantastic entries – six of these made the final 100. We also saw more pastel artworks than usual.

Thank you for helping us to raise awareness through art.

SFS HIGHLY COMMENDED

Highly Commended artworks narrowly missed out on a place in the 100. They will be displayed and offered for sale in our pop-up stores at this autumn’s events/exhibitions in aid of our projects, and also online here>>>  Congratulations and thank you to all the artists for their support. We know it’s hard being a runner-up,  and only just missing out,  but every piece supports the Project Fund.
