Kenya replaces eVisa with eTA

Kenya replaces eVisa with eTA

From 1 January 2024 the eVisa has been replaced by an eTA (electronic travel authorisation) for travel to Kenya.

All visitors* including infants and children who intend to travel to Kenya, must have an approved eTA before the start of their journey.

Visitors should apply for the eTA via www.etakenya.go.ke

The fee is $34 USD.

All eTA applications for Kenya should be submitted at least 3 days prior to travel, to ensure adequate time for authorisation. It is possible to apply up to 3 months before travel.

You must have 6 months validity on your passport, two blank pages and an up to date passport style digital image that you can submit during the application. You will need a payment card / Apple Pay to complete the authorisation process.

The eTA takes up to 3 days to confirm and is valid for single entry to Kenya. You will need to include details of your flights and where you are staying so it is a good idea to apply after you have confirmed your travel arrangements.

We recommend you check up-to-date information by visiting the UK FCDO pages and the official Kenya Government pages.

*excluding holders of valid Kenya Passports, Kenya Permanent Residence, Work Permits and Passes and Citizens of the East African Partner States
