A new name – Etosha Heights Conservation Centre – marked the new year for GCF’s centre in Namibia.  Funds raised by Sketch for Survival 2023 are supporting the centre and we were delighted to receive a New Year message from founder, Dr Julian Fennessy, thanking us for our support (which you can see on Instagram here>>>)

The centre is in the process of setting up exciting new programmes, including furthering the camera trap network in the area to monitor giraffe, as well as other key species.

Cutting edge AI technology is being implemented for species identification. This will help to speed up and improve the quality and accuracy of data collected from surveys of Etosha Heights.

A partnership with Colgate University in the USA, has led to a weather station network to correlate environmental data with animal movements.

The centre has hosted Namibian and international interns as part of ts commitment to train up young conservationists.
