Expedition: Everest Base Camp 1953

Dates: 27th February – 14th March 2020

Guides: Serap Sherpa, 7 time submitter of Everest. Robert Ferguson, author of the Nepal Handbook from Footprint Guides & EAE Trustee.

Details: In February – March 2020 EAE trustee Robert Ferguson trekked to Everest Base Camp, following the route taken by the 1953 British Everest Expedition that successfully reached the summit. This  entailed walking from the Kathmandu Valley to Everest, a journey of some 200 miles through some of the most spectacular terrain in the world. Every step was ascent or descent. He completed the trek using only equipment available at the time.

Rob was joined at Lukla by a group of supporters all of whom  fund-raised for EAE. They continued up to the Khumbu Ice-flow and Everest Base Camp.
