We are delighted to announce the first of several project partnerships for 2024: Kordofan Conservation in Chad

Giraffe Conservation Foundation supports giraffe conservation initiatives in 20 African countries and is the only NGO dedicated to conservation of giraffe.

We’ve supported their work in Niger, Uganda and Namibia as well as working with African Parks in Garamba in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to Kordofan giraffe.

To mark GCF’s 15th Anniversary this year we will continue to raise awareness about the plight of giraffe across Africa and to support their work, this year in Chad.

We are delighted that Dr Julian Fennessy, Director of Conservation and co-founder of GCF,  will be joining us at London’s Royal Geographical Society in November to report fresh from the frontline of conservation.

Chad is home to 60% of the world population of Critically Endangered Kordofan giraffe – most of these are found in Zakouma National Park although there was an exciting discovery in 2022 when a previously unknown Kordofan giraffe population of at least 40 individuals was identified in the Koundjourou area in Chad.

Chad offers a lot of potential habitat for giraffe but it sits in a challenging area of Africa with economic and political instability.
